By Tom Livsey, OurTown National News Editor,

Just when you thought you knew everything about ,'The War Between The States', Dr. George Coletti spins a yard, like you will not imagine...'Red Spoke' examined!

Book Storyline:

Just before the outbreak of the War Between the States, Buck Jernigan, his wife Betty Gail, their twins, Norman and Mia and their two free Negroes, Isaac and Sally, live happily in the small hamlet of Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Unknown to Betty Gail, Buck and Isaac become deeply committed to and submerged in the Underground Railroad. Buck and Isaac, as stealth abolitionists, free nearly fifty local slaves.

The Underground Railroad was a network of secret routes and safe houses used by19th-century enslaved people of African descent in the United States in efforts to escape to free states and Canada. This was accomplished, in part, with the aid of abolitionists and allies who were sympathetic to their cause.

Buck and his family strive to survive the ravages of war as it comes to their very doorstep—in the guise of General William Tecumseh Sherman himself. This tale of war and the relationships that bind us will bring you to tears and laughter—and to the very edge of your seat with the tension of the battles they must fight.
