Our guest today is Murshida VA(Victoria Angela M.Ed, Ed.S), Notorious Sufi "Crazy Teacher", Murshida VA, has been called everything from “The Feminine Voice of Rumi” to “The Incarnation of the Whore of Babylon”. Murshida VA’s influential work with healing sound inspired Harvard’s Institute of Mind-Body Medicine and Harvard’s Annual Spirituality and Healing Conference to include music and sound in their curriculum. Murshida VA was the first performance artist in residence at the acclaimed Shands Hospital Arts-in-Medicine Program and the first person to bring arts-based interventions into Lowell Correctional, the largest woman’s prison in the country. She pioneered arts-based interventions in domestic violence shelters and worked extensively with the survivors of violence, rape and sexual abuse, both privately and through agency contracts. We welcome her to the Twist Radio family and will not only discuss her current work but also the meaning of a zikr and a kirtan, both, forms of praise.
