The doctor tells you that your loved one has lost all quality of life. You find yourself facing a very difficult decision. Sometimes, our heart can override the desires and wishes of our loved one, or perhaps he/she never discussed them with us. We want to hang onto them…just in case.

To complicate matters further, we hear unfamiliar words such as “advance directives,” “living wills,” and “power of attorney.” Confusion overwhelms us. We have so many questions, yet we don’t know where or who to start asking. We don’t even know what to ask. We wonder about miracles, and some of us struggle with guilt.
