When someone in your family has cancer, things can change for everyone. These changes can be major or minor. Seeing a parent, brother or sister suffer from cancer can impact a person’s life in a significant way based on the following: the person in his or her family who has cancer (i.e., close family member); the type of cancer the family member is diagnosed with and how it’s treated; the age of the cancer victim; the length of time that the family member is required to stay in the hospital; the willingness (or unwillingness) of family or friends to discuss and deal with the situation. All of these factors can affect a person’s daily life. A person doesn’t know how cancer can potentially change his or her life until it is experienced first-hand. A brochure or web site can't answer all of these questions, but a healthy dialogue among those who have dealt with cancer in their own lives can begin the process of understanding the impact of the disease on individuals and families. Join me along with guest co-host Denise Roberts as we learn more about cancer, how it’s treated and the changes that will occur in a person’s life. We will also deal with feelings one may have about cancer and about the people in your family who have suffered from it. Please tune in to TruthbeToldbyHim Radio as we celebrate Life during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
