Over the last two thousand years Jesus has been transformed into a very different person than the one who was baptized in the River Jordan as a disciple of John the Baptizer.  Perhaps more importantly his primary message has been distorted to remove its fiery, revolutionary political and economic components. It is now acknowledged by virtually all scholars that Jesus' primary message was the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. It was not salvation. It was not eternal life.  It was not the remission of sins.  It was the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. It is also clear that the Kingdom of God about which he preached was to be here on earth. It is a truly sad commentary on our understanding of his teaching that we can believe otherwise.  Jesus said "your kingdom come ... on earth as it is in heaven." In spite of this clear, unequivocal, unambiguous statement preachers still proclaim that the Kingdom of God will be in the sky -- after you die. Jesus did not come to start a religion -- he already had a religion -- he came to start a revolution!  Be transformed.  Join the New Jesus Movement.
