TRYING TO GET GOOD!

A lot of us tomatoes can certainly relate to that. Well, Penny Peyser got it good with the documentary she wrote, directed and produced, TRYING TO GET GOOD, THE JAZZ ODYSSEY OF JACK SHELDON. Who is Jack Sheldon you say? You may remember him as Merv Griffin’s comedic trumpet-wielding sidekick, or the indelible voice on School House rock, but musicians know him as a jazz giant. Penny Peyser, also an actress best known for starring in such shows as RICH MAN POOR MAN, THE TONY RANDALL SHOW, CRAZY LIKE A FOX AND KNOTS LANDING, will be sharing with us tomatoes this week the journey of her extraordinary, artfully constructed and very moving film about jazz great Jack Sheldon, the last cat sanding from the bee bop generation.
