FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

Thanksgiving is coming up, my mother passed away June past and this will b the first holiday season in my life without at least one of my parents being with us.It makes me think about her maternal spirit and her love for family.She would always ask me if I remembered a distant cuzzin she was thinking about or an old uncle who had passed then she would share with me and other family members their history.Not only will I miss her telling her stories but I now realize she was the oral link to my ancestors, an invaluable loss.I am so thankful to have had her with us for her 87 years.God allowed us to share our home with her for the last 6 months of her life as she fought her illnesses.My daughters were blessed, whether they realize now it or not 2 have been in the position 2 serve and care for her when she could no longer help herself.Mom was so proud of them and Red, my wife for doing things for her many people couldn't bring themselves to do. Those who have been in our position know what I mean. 1 day, she told me there was a man she didn't know sitting in the chair in her room. When the nurse came in and didn't see him sitting there Mom was concerned that she was losing it. I told her "I prayed for you and God sent an angel just to watch over you when I couldn't be here". About a week later she left us 2 be with her husband.I thank God that her entire family had been able to spend time with her the last 30 days of her life.This world tells us to put people behind us, don't hold on and to move on, but my spirit tells me to hold on, don't forget, remember and pass on the principles, the love and the spirit she showed me.So from me, my wife,our 3 daughters, our 2 grandchildren and my Mom, Mabel, May your eyes always be open, may each of you receive all the blessings your heart can stand and may you be thankful for another chance to be thankful.So It Shall Be!
