our guest this week will be Pastor Matthew Reese, Pastor of the Lee Memorial Church 7530 Georgia Ave Wash. DC Lee Memorial Church was founded on March 17, 1994 by Dr. Ruth Ward to provide an uninhibited church environment for the individuals residing in Ward and Ward's Mental Health Services group homes. Pastor Reese has taken over the pastorial responsibilities and is expanding the congregation with his empowering, spirit building leadership. Pastor Reese is also on the board of directors for Ward and Ward Mental health Services, LLC which pioneered the concept of in-home service provider for the mentally retarded in the Washington DC area in 1978 taking the worst patients from the infamous Forest Haven Mental institution thereby being the leading advocate for de-institutionalizing care for the mentally disabled. Ward and Ward is still the largest in-home provider of services for DHS in the area. The subjects we will discuss are Why become a pastor? Why was there a need to have a church targeting special needs individuals if other congregations are so religious? Are churches doing all they can to help their entire communities? Why do more women go to church than men? Why is there a perceived battle between the black man and woman? What role should the church play in keeping young black males empowered?
