Perfume bottles come in all shapes and sizes.  In addition to perfume bottles, there are atomizers (a bottle with a spray mechanism), colognes (large bottles whose stoppers often have an application device), scents (small bottles used to hold a scent or smelling salts) and vinaigrettes (an ornamental box or bottle with a perforated top).  The stopper of a perfume is used for application and is very elongated.

Perfume bottles were one of the hottest collectibles of the 1980's.  As a result of market manipulation and speculative buying, prices soared.  The wind started to blow in the wrong direction.  The field began to stink.  But the wind is changing again as new collectors follow the scent.  Today's collectors are also interested in commercial bottles.  They enjoy their pretty shapes and colors as well as those sexy names.
