    in Travel

This week, Travel Today With Peter Greenberg comes from the Hotel Amigo in Brussels, Belgium. The hotel building dates back to the early 16th century when the Spanish misunderstood the word “amigo” and thought it was the Flemish word for “prison.” The building served as a prison for centuries. Joining Peter Greenberg will be legendary hotelier Sir Rocco Forte with a front line report on the state of hospitality, and Belgian Chocolatier Laurent Gerbaud will discuss why chocolate dominates Belgium. Then there’s the Brussels Beer Project, and Founder Olivier de Brauwere explains why he started an urban beer project in a city already famous for its exceptional beer. Brussels Historian Roel Jacobs gives his special insight into the most iconic statue in Belgium: the peeing boy. Then we’ll get a report from American expat Chris Burns about what keeps him in Brussels. True Haunting w/ special guest Edwin Becker

    in Paranormal

    Friday, June 10th     10pm ET / 9pm CT / 7pm PT
This year we saw a televised exorcism of a home on television. This wasn’t the first time something like this was seen on TV. In 1971 you didn’t find quite as many people that believed in the paranormal. In fact there were very few who would admit they did publicly. 24 yr. old Ed Becker bought a 2 flat for himself and his wife. The couple was awaiting the birth of their child. What they didn’t expect was that the home that they had just bought already had tenants living in the home. The building that was built and occupied by a single family that refused to relinquish their hold, even after death. Investigated and verified by experts, this residence brought chaos to the lives of those who chose to reside there. Long before the laws of disclosure, this couple wound up in the midst of strange occurrences prior to the term 'paranormal' becoming a common description.
NBC filmed and televised the exorcism of the home. Edwin F Becker wrote 2 books about this experience. “True Haunting” and “True Haunting 2” is the story of what happened in that home and how it affected the people involved.  It is a story that will scare the heck out of you, because it really happened. Ed Becker will be joining us next Friday night to share his story. You won’t want to miss this one. Be here and keep the lights on as we what happened during a “True Haunting”.

About Hobbies

Riddle us this: What's the most geektastic thing you choose to do in your spare time? Are you a big-time gamer? A gardener? A Comic Con fiend whose loyalty falls on one side of the DC-Marvel spectrum? The way we spend our time outside work is as varied as our personalities, and let's face it, we're all nerds about something. Maybe your browser history shows you're bidding on a Star Wars action figure or a lamppost for your Lionel train layout. Perhaps your preference for the paranormal means you download every episode of America's Most Haunted. No matter your guilty pleasure, BlogTalkRadio allows hobbyists to geek out together on whatever it is they gravitate – or levitate – toward. Talk shop with bloggers, critics, even blog critics, on what matters to you, or steer the conversation by hosting your own niche show. Oh, and it probably goes without saying, Trekkies welcome here.
