Interview with Dr. Timothy Johnson.

Founder and National President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, Dr. Timothy F. Johnson made national history on June 13, 2009, when he was elected Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, becoming the first Black American to hold the position and the highest ranking party official since the state party’s inception, March 27, 1867.
Prior to that, in 2008, he made history when he became the first Black in western North Carolina to be elected Party Chairman by either of the two major political parties.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Timothy earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest rank, the Eagle Scout Award, at the age of 14.
Timothy is married to Latessa M. Johnson and the proud father of four grown children and six grandchildren. They reside in Dallas, GA.
