Have the roles between men and women changed?

I remember time we're being a man and woman stood for something different. Each gender had their own specific role to play duties and what seemed to be rules that were instilled and us by elders. Nowadays ...it seems as if this current generation does not want to be bound by rules, ethics or codes anymore... but what is scarier is that there are adults that are actually condoning certain behaviors. What are we saying to the Next Generation after them?
