In the last 5 years (Keith Lamont Scott scooting, being ranked 50 out of 50 , Charlotte North Carolina has been in the news several times due to the racial tension within the Community. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Relations department has been refocusing efforts by enhancing and introducing Conflict Awareness and Community Mediation training not only to adults but the youth. Last year my coworker, Ryan Emmanuel, and I began the concept of Peer Clubs in several schools.
This year we hope to expand the clubs and bring in UNC-Charlotte Interns to assist in mentoring the students.
