For more than 40 years, community mediation centers with the help of volunteers and conflict management professionals have been a hidden jewel in communities throughout the United States helping people resolve conflict at the local level. The National Association for Community Mediation (NAFCM), a community mediation center membership organization, was created to advance the work, aggregate the wisdom, amplify the voice of more than 300 community mediation centers throughout the United States.
NAFCM continues its work to support community mediation centers who are meeting the unique conflict resolution needs of their local communities through innovative programming and services that include mediation but also creatively adapt and expand their services to meet the local needs of the communities they serve. Ms. Hairston will discuss the important work of community mediation centers and the role NAFCM plays, through its Board of Directors and volunteers to support its membership.
