Prescribed medication may be necessary to help with impulse control, rage, and a poor thought process. Is it the only way to control behavior in the school and in the home? Too often it is prescribed to children with the hope that it will do the job exclusively. There is no substitute for responsibility and accountability. Medication may provide temporary relief. Sound discipline that holds children accountable and encourages responsible behavior is necessary if they are going to experience life long success.
