Living with Dementia...Forgetting the Journey

Many of us are uneducated in the world of aging....We fail to tap into our sensitivity as we see our aging parents and grandparents...Sometimes we even assume that their cry for help through forgetfulness, is just a means for attention. 

How is it possible at the age of 78 to remember what was taught during our toddler stages, but forgetting we graduated with honors from a prestigeious college? How can we remember how to cook during golden years, but forget we gave birth to 4 beautiful children? 

How does it feel when you own mother no longer recognizes you? Or your dad never remembers you name?
