We live in a society that I like to refer to as a “microwave world.” Hurry up and wait seems to be the going unspoken phrase. In the educational system we’re giving children options to mingle with adults as a way of helping them increase their knowledge ad gain social skills that could probably wait until a more appropriate time. We give it a fancy name and think it’s okay. We have dual-enrollment which allows high school seniors to take college courses while attending high school. We buy our little girls short shorts and shirts that hang off the shoulder at the age of 7 (because it’s in their size), but we can’t understand why they want the shorts even shorter when they get 16. Why are we in such a hurry for our children to grow up in one area but not across the board? We want a meal that tastes like we slow cooked the meat, roasted the potatoes, handpicked and snapped the green beans and made sun tea, but we want to do it all in a microwave. What’s wrong with this picture? We want to hear what you have to say.
