The Ebola virus has reached American soil. Workers who contracted the virus in Africa have been brought home for treatment. A vistor to the US has become the first diagnosed case on US soil and now a nurse who cared for this man is infected with the Ebola virus. Nurses are on the frontline when caring for those with communicable diseases. The workplace is a potentially hazardous place for dedicated professions who vow to care for the sick. Nurses ask that they are given the information, guidance and support to safely care for others without putting themselves at risk. We are nurses not martyrs.
