CHIEF DEFENDS POLICE BEFORE CRITICISM

The Modesto Bee reports that Martin Martinez will be charged with the murder of five people and has no criminal history.

Martinez was arrested in San Jose recently for the killing of his girl friends two-year-old son in October.

Ten months went by before Martinez was arrested for the October homicide.

Police chief Galen Carrol contends that the two incidents are entirely separate.

How can the chief explain that if  Martinez was arrested in October 5 people would still be alive today?

Coroner Adam Christianson might explain why it took so long to get an autopsy, or was there a problem with his budget.
