Bonnie says “Back when I was first ordained, the idea of a pet minister would have induced a fit of the laughter, hushed comments and concern for my sanity for calling myself such a silly thing. These days if you say something about a pet minister, you are likely to be asked where a person might find one. Pets have become the cornerstone of many of our lives and these spiritual leaders don't preach to pets, but rather assist people in finding meaningful ways of living with animals, to help them through their times of grief and loss, to bless them and honor them with a variety of celebrations and ceremonies. I believe that animals teach us to love unconditionally, to care about the beings in our lives above our possessions and to enjoy the little things in life.
