A certain amount of stress is stimulating and makes life interesting: We often do our best work when busy and challenged. However too much even of a good thing, is simply too much. 

Improper breathing interrupts the flow of chi making it harder for you to cope when confronted with stressful situations.  Improper breathing contributes to anxiety, panic attacks, depression, headaches, tension and fatigue.  As you learn to become aware of the way you breathe, your mind will quiet and your body will relax.
