We debate whether a thing is a factor, whether it is significant, and about the impact of that particular subject or thing. In many instances, we are told what is important or significant.... that is, what to think about a thing.
The question is, "who" is doing the telling, and what are they telling us to think? Our power is in deciding for ourselves what is important or significant, and the impact of this thing.
