THE AARP & SFTVR Present: FREE DRIVING COURSES TO ALL VETERANS!

To honor our veterans, the AARP Driver Safety Program is providing FREE drivers safety classes across the country for all veterans, spouses, widows, widowers, dependent children and partners. The program is taking place for the month of November, 2011 and is open to veterans of any age. In Illinois participants (age 55 and older) in the program are also eligible for auto insurance discounts. The award winning driver safety program is being held at several host sites around Schaumburg and the surrounding areas, and we need to get this information out to the veterans any way we can. By taking the defensive driver refresher course you can envision the repercussions:Free class,Potential discount on auto insurance,Hopefully reduce the possibility of traffic citations,Hopefully reduce the possibility of traffic crashesTwo weeks ago I attended the GHSA (Governor Highway Safety Assoc.) conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. A workshop was lead by an Army LTC that opened his workshop with a question. What is the leading cause of death to veterans returning from Iraq  and Afghanistan? It was traffic crashes. After his presentation, I mentioned to him the program for free defensive driving classes in November, and  he was practically speechless. He said, “Wow, you would do that for our veterans”, and I told him absolutely.

Now, we need your help to get the word out to our military personnel and veterans. I will call you tomorrow after 1:30pm to see how we can work together to make this happen.
