HARLEY-DAVIDSON MUSEUM® TO DISPLAY MORE THAN 3,000 FLAGS IN HONOR OF SEPTEMBER 11 ANNIVERSARY
MILWAUKEE (Sept. 6, 2011) – In recognition of the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on America, the Harley-Davidson Museum will display thousands of flags that spell the word “Remember” on the Museum grounds. This special display will be in place Saturday, September 10 through Monday, September 12.
Of the 2,902 American flags displayed, 2,792 will represent the people who lost their lives on 9/11, and 110 will represent the Wisconsin soldiers who have lost their lives in the War on Terror since it began in 2003. An additional 110 Wisconsin flags will be placed next to those American flags meant to honor the Wisconsin soldiers.
Visitors will be invited to stand on a platform above the display to view it on the grounds below.
The Museum also invites members of the community to bring American flags needing to be retired to the Museum at any time throughout the year.
