If you have had the opportunity to sweep hardwood floors, you know it can be somewhat tedious - especially if you are trying to sweep up lint, or fine particles of dirt. On one such day, I thought I had thoroughly cleaned the floors, only to discover dirt in an area hidden from my view because it was in a corner. I tackled it to my satisfaction and resolved to use a vacuum for the impossible to reach remnants. As I headed toward the broom closet, I noticed more of the same underneath the island in the kitchen. A little disgruntled I lowered myself and realized there was as much dirt under the island as I had emptied into the trash can! At this point, I was irritated. Sweeping the floor had worn me out. I immediately thought about the process of “cleaning” in a spiritual context. How the WORD admonishes us to allow Jesus to do this work in us because sin is under things and in tight spaces unreachable to man. Spiritual cleansing is a job for the Master vacuum.
