PARENTING 101

With the rise in violence, crime,dropouts, rise in pregnancy, suicide and so many more negatives with our youth today, we sometimes wonder if there is any hope of a positive future for them. The statistics are staggering,especially for African American youth. If we believe the statistics,it shows that we are in a crisis state. According to a recent study by the Council Of The Great City Schools entitled A CALL FOR CHANGE IT SHOWS, It shows that African American males are twice as likely to fail academically as their white counterpart,They make up only 5% of the US college population, While being an overwhelming 36% of the US prison population. Where does it all start and how do we change the trend? This week in PARENTING 101 we'll talk to Parents and children o both sides of the coin. My guest will be parents and children that have made decisions and taken action to ensure a better future. I'll also talk with the parents of our youth that have lost their way and become one of the staggering statistics that leaves us to wonder about the future state of our youth.
