Being a single mother is something most black people can relate to. Most of us were raised by single mothers and many of us have become single mothers ourselves . The obstacles we face are unimaginable. Can I teach my son how to be a man? When is it okay to bring a guy I'm dating around my kids? These  are  questions many single mothers ask themselves. There is no manual on the correct way to raise kids alone, so we're forced to be fathers and mothers. My grannie always said "it takes a village to raise a kid", I don't know how true that is. But having a two parent home is obviously more beneficial than the one.

Is single motherhood ever something to be proud about or should we be exerting more energy into analyzing why single mothering is so common and work to improve matters - if its necessary.

How does single motherhood affect the identities of black men and women - if it plays such a role?

Lets get into this topic on Saturday 9pm central.
