Let's Talk Politics w. Fred Wilson

Tonight we will focus on the Marissa Alexander case. If you don’t remember, she is the one serving a 20 year sentence for aggrevated assault with a deadly weapon. Under florida law, this carries a mandatory 20 year sentence. Alexander claims it was in self-defense, but the jury saw if differently.  She has been in Prison for almost 3 years, but the court of appeals after studying the case, concluded the jury was mis-instructed by the trial judge. The court of appeals offered to have the case dropped of re-tried and the state’s Atty. Has opted for the retrial.  We are going to go deep into this case to try to determine if she should be in jail or a victim of a flawed justice system.  See you tonight 7pm!
