Success Secrets of Enterprising Women - Cathy Hirata

Cathy Hirata is the Founder of Where Music Begins, Academy of Music.  She is a graduate of San Jose State University with a degree in Music, UC Davis Mind Institute in Autism Studies, a Senior Associate Simply Music Teacher, Certified Signing Smart and Kindermusik Educator and the former Co-Representative for the Greater Bay Area Chapter of the CA Partnership of Kindermusik Educator’s and was recognized by Kindermusik International as a Maestro for her work with children with special needs.  She founded Where Music Begins in 2001 in the San Francisco Bay area as a typical music school, soon discovering a need for music lessons for students with various special needs, particularly those with autism. In 2008, her school was the focus of a documentary film produced by Simply Music Intl. in which several of her students were featured.
