The worst thing that can happen to any person is to live a happy life without experiencing anything that forces them into a deep and radical questioning of their core being.

A smug, complacent life is a curse. If your desires are gratified and your goals are fairly consistently achieved, it can be a curse and not a blessing.

You become lulled into a sense of being satisfied with enjoying the world and not ever awakening into a real understanding of your true position in life, from a spiritual and eternal perspective.

Unsaved people often seem to be happy, successful, and content with their lives.

This unrealistic viewpoint is like a thick fog in which they move, in a deep sleep, completely lost but thinking they are making progress and having a lot of fun.

This is because they are blinded by darkness and intoxicated with selfish pleasures.

Ignorant about the evil lurking within them and the doom that awaits them, the atheists and God-haters will one day have a very rude awakening. But it will be too late.

But aside from the consideration of heaven and hell, let's examine why this inattentive state of mind is a disaster, in the here and now, and a very tragic way to live.
