WHAT MUSLIM AMERICANS SHOULD TEACH MUSLIM YOUTH ABOUT THE AMERICAN FLAG

In 1976 Imam W. Deen Mohammed emphatically declared, “If you won’t carry it (the American Flag), then I will carry it.” Not only did he carry the American flag he taught on the messages within the flag. He taught us about “America the Beautiful” and about “America the Beast”.

In light of the American political and social climate of 2017 what do we as Muslim American leaders teach our Muslim youth regarding America; the American Flag; civil and social rights and the many lessons we learned from Imam W. Deen Mohammed about the American Flag.

Is there a synthesis between the valuable lessons about the American flag given to us from Imam W. Deen Mohammed and the actions of our National Football League Brother Colin Kaepernick and the pass actions of our National Basketball Association Brother Mahmoud Abdur-Rauf during the American Anthem?
