Dr. Mumford spent nearly four decades of his career at Tufts University, teaching astronomy and astrophysics on the elementary and intermediate levels. He was also the dean of both the liberal arts and graduate programs for some time. Throughout his career, he cultivated his expertise in nova-like variable stars, better known as explosive stars. Dr. Mumford developed an interest in astronomy at an early age and chose the field of education because it gave him the opportunity to teach and conduct research in his field. He attributes his success to his passion for the subject and the endless research opportunities he encountered. Join Spotlite Radio in Introducing Dr. George S. Mumford!
