Amalia Ortiz is a Tejana actor/riter/activist. She featured on 3 seasons of Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry on HBO, and the NAACP Image Aards on FOX. Amalia's debut book of poetry Ran. Chant. Chisme. as selected by NBC News as one of the "10 best Latino Books of 2015". Amalia is the writer  and composer of the Latino musical Carmen de la Calle. Amalia is also the creator of Otra Esa on the Public Transit- a poerful one-woman show about destination and destiny.  She stars in the award-winning independent film Fear of a Brown Planet. Amalia participated in TEDx McAllen in 2015.
