Why Me, Lord???

Why do bad things happen to good people?  Why is it that the largest number of people who die young seem to be the good ones?  How can the world be a fair place when suffering is allowed to proliferate?  Everywhere you look, innocent people are starving, they are dying, and there seems to be no grand design or sense of fairness in who suffers and who doesn't. 

And while we're at it, how come some of the most dastardly people appear to fare the best, living in prosperity and so high on the hog you can barely see the bottom of their brand new boots?
