Dr. Barack Abonyo for Kisumu Governor w/Lady CEO CeCe Cole

Dr. Barack Abonyo currently serves as an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.  During his tenure he has successfully attracted more than $5 million in federal research funds to the University.  His most significant research contribution is related to applications of molecular biology techniques in circumventing lung inflammatory diseases and lung cancer.  His discoveries are paving the way to the development of non-toxic asthma and lung cancer gene therapeutic agents.

Dr. Barack’s research work was featured in the International Innovation Magazine.  He serves as an editor of the Journal of Pharmaceutica Analytica Acta.  He is a member of the American Physiological Society and the Association of African Biomedical Scientists.  He is the recipient of numerous awards including University wide Emerging Researcher of the year.

Politically speaking, he challenged Kenya’s constitution and successfully championed the Kenyan Government for the African Diaspora to have voting rights.  In July 2011, Dr. Barack Abonyo announced his candidacy for Kisumu Governor, the first of its kind since the ratification of the 2010 Constitution of Kenyan.
