When you're the only show in town: Super Hero Movie Slump or Lack of Options?

Age of Ultron is enjoying it's second week in the #1 spot and making tons of money, a fact the people at Marvel are sure to be happy about. 

but amongst fans there have been rumblings about the film. People have been generally more critical and less forgiving of the second avengers film than the first. 

is this because Age of Ultron is just not as good as the first? or is there something else contributing to the scrutiny of the insanely successful film
