The Dojo is a lifestyle venue for many, and because of that, developing a relationship with others is part of the lifestyle. However, what is appropriate and what isn't? In many schools, the students become a "family", and just like families, there's the possibility of family-type relationship. There are typical student-teacher relationship, friendships between student ranks, junior/senior student "brother/sister" relationships, "Sempai-Kohai" relationships, even romantic relationships.
However, what is considered as "allowed" in Dojo relationships? Its one thing for a group to go to dinner at a restaurant, but is it appropriate for students to date each other? Then there's the controversy about Teachers dating students. Where is the line drawn? Should there be a line?
