Welcome to A Theory of Parenting on BlogtalkRadio.com. My name is Tammi Joyner. I am your host for the show.
The topic we will cover is Mental Health and your teen.
I would like to open the show with a question.
Does your child need to see a Mental and Behavior Health Doctor? Does your child show signs of stress? I have a list of signs and I would like to read them at this time. Signs: -Blackouts -Poor Memory -Quiet -Poor Posture -Poor Eating Habits -Poor Hygiene -No signs of Happiness -Poor Grades -Fighting -Cursing -Yelling -Bad Friends and Associates -No Girlfriend -Spiritual Abuse -Physical Abuse -Verbal Abuse
If your child shows signs you should seek help.
See your family physician to determine what could be done about your child's behavior. A combination of medication and therapy could be recommended, depending on the situation. One should not rely entirely on medication alone as it doesn't really address the real issue. Look at medication as part of a strategy that will help your teen gain betterment.
Further, you should communicate with your teen and listen to what he/she has to say. It's important for teens to know that you love them and you're there for them fully. During these times, you may be tempted to ask so many questions but teens tend to back down and close themselves off when pressured to answer questions that they are not ready to face.
As you know, I have a 16 year old son by the name of Marquel Green.
