On This Week’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, we’ll be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Brian De Palma’s infamous remake of Scarface!  Just how has it held up over the past three decades?  Did it come by its status as a modern day classic honestly?  Could it have attained that status without the help of Hip-Hop culture and rap music?  Is it merely an overblown piece of exploitive melodrama, or is there something more going on beneath its gaudy surface?  Is it one of the most misunderstood films of all time, even by its fanbase?  Is it truly inferior to the Howard Hawks original?  Has its power been dulled by its pop culture omnipresence?

We’ll also be talking about the death of actor Paul Walker.  What are his contributions to the action genre aside from the Fast & Furious films?  How much of an impact will his death have on that franchise?  Will part 7 ever see the light of day?  Should Paul Walkers death be worked into the storyline somehow?  Should his character be killed off, or would that be in terribly bad taste considering the tragedy?  Should Universal pictures scrap what has been filmed this far and start from scratch?  Will the public ever see Fast & Furious 7 as it was originally conceived?  Is that even possible at this point?
