Memorial Day~

When you hear the word 'Remember' what comes to mind? All of us carry a myriad of memories in our minds, both the good and the bad. For my wife Becky, her 'happy place' is found at Hume Lake in Sequoia National Park. There she has compiled the most fun, enjoyable and lovely memories of any that she has (by her own words), because it is there that our family has, from time to time, met to enjoy a week of relaxation away from the world. There is NO TV or WIFI internet (unless you pay for it, and then it is only available near the administration building). During the day there is kayaking or paddle-boarding on the lake, hiking around the lake, or traveling to Moro Rock, or Crescent Meadow. For Becky, and really for the rest of us, it is as close to heaven as we can get here on earth.

Think of the most beautiful memoty you have, and imagine that memory living in real life in the earth made new. We memorialize that which is important to us, but sometimes that memory can be painful, even if it ends by being productive in our growth toward righteousness. We memorialize not only the birth of Jesus, but also His death on the cross. We read His words as remembered by His own eyewitness disciples, and we also read words that we have been told are true because they are in the Bible, but when put to the test of truth they fall short. Remembering can be both beautiful and dangerous, and it is up to us to make the right decision as to which is which.
