Nobody wants to believe police could show up at their child's school and grab their child, but you and I know from experience that it CAN happen in America. You'll never see your child again and people won't understand why holidays are hard for you. They won't want to believe that it isn't your fault.

But remember the concept of the Elevator Speech: being able to persuade people YOU ARE REAL and worth listening to, and your trauma is something THEY could experience is an art form that is essential to your very survival in society. Not only that, but YOUR CHILDREN ARE COUNTING ON YOU! Let's start by telling YOU: hey! You're worth listening to.
