“The way I am different from other publishers is that editorial is not the main thing that excites me, building the business is.” Sharon Woodhouse founded Chicago-based Lake Claremont Press, a small, independent, niche publisher specializing in everything Chicago. It wasn’t that her lifelong dream was to become a publisher, she just wanted to start a business. So in 1994, she set out to do just that. Against all odds and with no experience in the publishing industry, Sharon has built her business into a highly touted publishing house featured in hundreds of media outlets throughout the world including, CNN, NPR, BBC, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Join us as Sharon recounts her gutsy adventure to stand shoulder-to-shoulder amongst the industry’s media giants.
