In the world today, there are many thoughts and beliefs about what happens when a person dies. Many may say “I can’t wait to get to heaven!” Or “they are not suffering anymore, they have a new body” and even “heaven gained a new angel today”. Is this Biblical?

Louise Berkhof said in his Systematic theology “In the earliest years of the Christian Church there was little thought of an intermediate state. The idea that Jesus would soon return as Judge made the interval seem to be of little consequence. The problem of the intermediate state arose when it became apparent that Jesus would not at once return. The real problem that vexed the early Fathers, was how to reconcile individual judgment and retribution at death with the general judgment and retribution after the resurrection.”

We want to have a conversation, a tough and in some aspects a controversial conversation. Our intent is not to cause controversy or complicate the issue. But to inform what the Bible actually says. To share why we interrupt scripture the way we do and hear why you believe what you believe.
