Chris Borland caught everyone's attention when he retired after one year, in the NFL. The San Francisco 49er linebacker felt that living a long healthy life was more important than the chance to earn millions of dollars. Calvin Johnson decided to retire from the Detroit Lions while he still had some juice left in the tank. Johnson had battled trough some naggin injuries as of late, but would have commanded top 10 wide receiver money. However, he opted to retire a Detroit Lion.

The latest news, in Green Bay, was B.J. Raji retiring at the age of 29. Raji had spent some time battling injuries this past year, along with suffering a concussion. As the 'stupid' money flys around in free agency, the players are becoming smarter and more educated about the long lasting effects of punishing their body, in the NFL.
