As the NBA and NHL inch closer to their postseason, the NFL started gearing up for the 2016 season. The NFL combine is when the top college players get to showcase their talents and interview with the NFL teams. For some, this could determine what round they are drafted. At one time, the combine was the tell all for talent, but now it has become a media frenzy and some of the top players opt to wait until their designated pro day. The 2016 combine had a fair share of winners and a number of losers.

Stephen Curry is the reigning NBA MVP, and keeps on putting up spectacular numbers. Curry is averaging 30.7 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 6.6 assists per game. Outside of the assist number, Curry has increased his points per game and rebounds. Curry has not only improved his personal numbers, he has the Warriors set up to break the single season record of 72 wins. The Bulls have held that record since 1996, but the 20 year record is in jeapordy.

Gerrit Cole was the 11th pick in the 2011 MLB draft and received a $8 million signing bonus before throwing a pitch. He made his major league debut in 2013 and has become the Pirates top pitcher. The Pittsburgh Pirates have a system on how they sign young players, and are sticking to the model. They offered Cole a modest $531,000 and said that he was bullied into signing. Is it wrong to lowball a player in MLB when he is about to enter arbitration where he will command a salary that exceeds seven figures?
