The NFL season is 16 games long and each one matters. Teams hope to get off to a fast start and solidify their playoff spot as early as possible. Some teams are hoping that they can put the pieces together as the season rolls on. Injuries play a major role in the success of a team. Can a team overcome numerous injuries and still make a legitimate run at the playoffs?
A few teams stumbled out of the gate, and many wrote them off. The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans struggled in the first half of the season, and now are on the verge of making the AFC playoffs. The Chiefs have positioned themselves in the wildcard race, and the Texans have stayed the course and have a chance to win the AFC South. The Indianapolis Colts had Super Bowl expectations, but have been dealing with an injured franchise quarterback. The Patriots stormed out of the gate, but have now dropped two in a row after losing key components, in their passing game. Seattle traded for Jimmy Graham to bolster a weak receiving unit. That experiment didn't work out as planned, and Graham is now injured. However, the Seahawks have started playing some inspired football and find themselves back in the playoff talk.
