Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy have changed. We think you'll like them better this way.
Deaf, deaf, hard of hearing—these terms all refer to people who have a hearing loss. Many other terms are spoken by people who do not understand the culture of those who do not hear as they do. Instead, they use terms that are more derogatory. On Friday, Sept. 18, noon PT/3 p.m. ET/8 p.m. UK, on Purpose Talk Radio, we will discuss some of the terminology, customs, culture of people who have a hearing loss. This will include the difference between the words deaf, Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing impaired. By being a part of the show, you will go into Deaf Awareness Week with a better understanding so you can help make others more aware.
Join in the conversation through Skype (after the show begins), calling 347-205-9074, or in the Facebook group Purpose Talk Radio Conversations.
