Lucid Dreaming / Astral Projection, Spiritual or Scientific?

Throughout history, spiritual people have connected to the astral plane through lucid dreaming or astral projection.  While science cannot prove or disprove the act of lucid or astral projection, they have attempted through numerous case studies that lucid dreaming is the experience of conscious awareness while still asleep.  Astral projection is an out-of-body experience that can be had in wakefulness.  During astral projection, it is believed that a person's consciousness leaves their physical body for a period of time to travel into the astral plane (spirit world).  Many spiritual practitioners of meditation, yoga, and self-hypnosis can access this phenomenon as it is beyond the physical plane and can access the next level of wisdom.  Most people have had some sort of an experience dreaming or out-of-body experience.  So the question is, what kind of experience have you had?
