Nacion Cherokee de Mexico author Carol Shoemaker: Skeletons in the Closet

Carol was fostered as a baby and adopted at 2 1/2 years of age and did not learn that she was Cherokee until 1996, when she also began her writing career.  After discovering her 'roots', Carol became involved intertribal activites and was appointed the Ambassador to Israel (in the U.S.) for the Central Band of Cherokee.

 
Some of her 'lifetime achievements' are those of mother of six children, writer/author of Skeletons in the Closet, an autobiography, with a BA in Human Services.  Carol, a veteran of the U.S. Army (Viet Nam Era and from 1978-80), is also a member of the Disabled American Veterans  Association, and National Native American Veterans Association.

Ms. Shoemaker is a dual citizen of the United States and Israel. A highlight of her trip to Israel was when asked to deliver a message to Hillary Clinton in Jerusalem, from the children of K'far Adumim. (1994). She is an enrolled member of the Tsalagiyi Nvdagi (Texas Cherokees) as well as member of the Austin Film Society and National Academy of Native American Arts Society NANAAS).
