Today many individuals are  honoring and Tcelebrating Labor Day. Labor Day is a day that was for individuals to pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movements in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. Labor Day also symbolizes the end of summer for many Americans. In the late 1800's at the height of the Industrial Revolution in the United States the average American worked 12 hour days and seven day weeks in order to make a living. This was despite some restrictions. In some states children even as young as 5 or 6 toiled in mills, factories and mines across the country, earning a fraction of their adult counterparts' wages.

As we can see even today, this is still a problem. It can also be said that given such we now have what is now called Workaholism. As many individuals may find it difficult to balance work, family, and self care.

Individuals can become addicted to many different things one of which can be work. Often there may be a cross addiction. One may also perhaps have an addictive personality. Workaholism can be dangerous. It is not always about money. Although you may finish a lot of work, you may endanger your marriage ruin your relationships with your children, get burnt out, and end up an early grave.

If you or someone that you love is working too much, you or your loved one may be a workaholic. Workaholism is destructive and seductive. The roots of workaholism is also often related to childhood. You don't have to be employed to be a workaholic.

There are signs symptoms. There is also help available. Examples include:

* Feeling more excited about work than anything else in your life.

* Taking your work to bed or on vacation.

*Talking about work more than anything else.

* Working more than 40 hours per week.
